Your trial and your access
Your trial is 35 days with no card on file. One email comes seven days before the end, and after it your account turns read-only, not locked.
Nothing is deleted when access lapses. Everything stays readable and downloadable for 90 days, and it's all there if you subscribe.

A 35-day trial#
Your account starts a 35-day trial the day it's created. No card is on file, nothing is charged, and nothing asks for a card until you decide to subscribe.
The exact end date is in Settings, Billing, with how many days that is from today. It's the same date everywhere it appears.
Every feature works during the trial.
The email seven days before#
One email comes seven days before the trial ends. It gives the date, says no card is on file and nothing will be charged, and says what happens the day after.
Nothing is owed, so it asks for nothing. It's there so you can decide before the trial ends.
It's separate from the two alerts on the Notifications tab. Those are about your money and stay off until you turn them on. Email about your account itself always reaches you.
What read-only means#
When the trial ends, or when a subscription ends, the account becomes read-only. That's narrower than it sounds:
- Still works
- Every page opens, every figure and chart still shows, the forecast still runs, and you can download a complete backup as often as you like. Signing in, changing your password and two-factor all work as normal.
- Blocked
- Adding or changing anything: transactions, rules, budgets, goals, accounts. The data stays exactly as you left it.
Nothing is deleted when access lapses, and nothing is hidden. A red band at the top of every page says which clock ran out, your trial or your subscription, and gives the date the data would be removed. The card in Settings, Billing carries the same two dates.
Access comes back the moment a subscription is active, and everything is where you left it.
The 90 days after#
Read-only lasts 90 days. Three reminders go out in that window, and after it the account and everything in it are deleted.
| Day | What happens |
|---|---|
| 0 | Access goes read-only. An email says so and gives the deletion date. |
| 60 | A reminder, with the same date. |
| 83 | The last reminder, seven days out. |
| 90 | The 90 days end. The account and its data are then deleted, permanently. |
Downloading a backup is free and unlimited the whole time, including on day 89. A backup opens only in an account signed in with the same email address, so if you come back later with that address, your file still works. How backups work.
Deletion is permanent, and it works the same way as deleting an account yourself, described on the security page.
Subscribing during the trial#
The paid period starts the day you pay, not the day the trial would have ended. Subscribe on day 10 of 35, and the 25 remaining free days aren't carried over.
The card in Settings, Billing says so before you click, with both dates in the sentence.
Plans and prices are shown at checkout, and nothing in the app quotes an amount.
Canceling or a failed payment#
Canceling keeps your access to the end of the period you've already paid for, and it doesn't renew after that. Nothing is cut short, so nothing is refunded early.
If a payment can't be taken, access continues while it's retried, so a card that expired over a weekend doesn't lock you out. Updating the card is the same button as canceling.
- Where
- Manage subscription, in Settings, Billing. It opens Lemon Squeezy, who handle payments for Forecast Commander. Cancel, change your plan or update your card there.
- What we hold
- The app never sees a card number. Payment details are entered with Lemon Squeezy and stay with them. What comes back to us is whether the subscription is active and the date it runs to.
